The world's top lawyers expected in Luxembourg

The 63rd congress of the International Union of Lawyers opens on Wednesday for four days of meetings, conferences and networking bringing together more than a thousand lawyers.

The destination may have been less attractive than Porto or Mexico City, but Luxembourg has already won the bet of exceeding the bar of 1,000 registered delegates on the eve of the opening of the 63rd congress of the UIA, the largest association of lawyers since it covers 120 countries and has woven a network of more than 2 million lawyers and jurists through its individual and collective members. The opening ceremony will be held on Wednesday at the Philharmonie in the presence of HRH the Hereditary Grand Duke and will be introduced by Prime Minister Xavier Bettel.

The congress, hosted by the European Congress Center in Kirchberg, spans four days and includes both work sessions for UIA members (committee work, general assembly, networking) and high-level conferences on the main themes chosen by the organizing committee – traditionally a theme focused on business and another oriented on human rights, since the UIA is very committed to the defense of lawyers prevented from practicing their profession in worldwide.
